Hi Tim, hopefully you'll look in on this after this heading... I've just been drooling over your lovely V8-S pic, and you mention the Rimmers stainless exhaust.

Or perhaps anyone else in the know...

I note with interest you have a Rimmers Steel Exhaust fitted, yet I see the tailpipe follows the original curvy contour, and not straight out of the back more towards the centre of the car.

Tim, have you the sports system or the original type system fitted? The reason I ask, is that I would like a S/S system for my car, the sports would be nice (for sound alone!) but I would like to have my cake and eat it by having the more original looking "curvy" tail-pipe exit.

I have heard the shorter more centrally exiting system allows exhaust fumes to enter the car via the tailgate vents.... is this true?

Furthermore I understand there is an early and late type Rimmers system, is the late type the curvy one? The pic on their on-line catalogue looks short and straight? I'm terribly confused....

Any help or advice gratefully received (Any Rimmers staff members on this forum?) Thanks all....

Jay

Jay it is a sports exhaust, bought in 2004 from rimmers however they had recently changed the back box design to look more like the original, I think this is a much due to fume problems as much as for the asthetics.

I wouldnt have fitted one of the previous design straight exit backboxes as they look wrong on a standard car, especially a MK1.

My original exhaust had seen better days and it was as cheap to fit this, as a mild steel. However! it wasnt a good fit and took alot of bending and still has rubber mounts jammed bewteen the prop and the centre pipe as it catches otherwise sometimes.
