Interesting carb set up as fitted to a V8 Land Rover 110, presumably on a home made inlet manifold....

Looks like 4 x SU carbs on one engine....Wow!!!

With the relative cheapiness of SU-carbs at the moment from Rimmers India stock, could this mod be a cost-cutting way to better performance, a carb each feeding two cylinders?

Mega-thirsty gimmick or more effective fuel efficiency and performance?

Must be a bugger to balance though, two is bad enough.....

To me it looks like it would of been easier to go with EFi. I recall that is some RPI intake they made in that past?

Hi

That's a boxer manifold, these were tested many years ago when Street Machine magazine were drag racing an SD1. They compared them with several 4 barrel carb combinations and EFI. These, were by far the best in performance and economy comparisons, surprising, yes! I have been looking for a set myself for ages. Ken.
