Im thinking of buying a 81 rover in ARGENT Silver.It requires paintwork and I wondered if its still possible to get the original colour.

A decent bodyshop should have no problem finding the recipe and
mixing the colour. I think Halfords can also mix a spray can? If
you are lucky, the VIN plate will show the three letter code for the
paint. Failing that, you can have a sample taken from a bit of
removable body, e.g. the fuel flap.

Of course, if the car has previously had paintwork, and that paint
wasn't matched properly or has faded, you may end up having to
do a complete respray.

If its metalic and requires any significant amount of paint, it will need a full resparay to be any good.. This is why I hate all metalic paint, second it gets damaged the whole lot needs to be done I have never seen it as a plus on a cars spec, just a big fat MINUS!. Thank god my SD1 isn't metalic although its almost as bad.. its red, worst colour for fading!
