That's not a Vitesse I've come across, it's one I'd remember as it's
got a registration similar to an equally good targa TP Vitesse owned
by another forum member.
A DVLA search for the car doesn't return anything, though a car
check still records it as a Rover 3500 Vitesse in red. I'm not sure
what this means as exported, SORN, taxed and 'unlicensed' cars
are recorded as such by the DVLA. I can guess it's on private
plates if it survives.
A few years ago, the SD1 Club magazine published surviving UK
SD1 numbers using DVLA data. This suggested there were under 2000
SD1s left at the end of 2003. Of this, 63 were taxed targa red Vitesses,
with a further 26 SORN. This figure will be lower now
From older data in Club magazine 51 Nov/Dec 1999, there were 14,644
SD1s on the road! Further, it includes remaining cars from 1994 onward:
December 1994 - around 50,000
December 1995 - 38,157
December 1996 - 28,223
December 1997 - 20,729
December 1999 - 14,644
