Can anybody help? I need a cheap runabout to get me back on the road! Anything will do! Would consider a 2000 or SD1 diesel if it's at the right price, not too fussed about the condition as long as its got an MOT & possibly some tax too. Will consider any car!!

I have a 306 on the drive which runs, 10 months MOT and 4 months tax. Not perfect but I used it every day for a month whilst the SD1 was ill. Only problem is I am in Aberdeen.

How much are we talking? Distance isn't so much of a problem as I work on the railway & I get 75% off rail travel.....

Car is a 97 306 XS-S (Irish model) 1.6, electric windows & sunroof, front fogs, alloys, sports seats. PROBLEM IS CAR IS BRIGHT GREEN!

Problems are (doesnt look as bad as it reads! just being honest)
Car locks then unlocks itself again - common problem apparently, I think it is a broken wire in the conduit to the door.

Air bag warning light comes on occasionally - this is a loose connection under the drivers seat to the seat belt pretensioner. This is apparently a design floor as the loom is too short so when you move the seat back, it comes loose.

Knock from back end - under hard braking or on rough roads - I thought one of the dampers may be knackered but the car seems to handle OK, its not the exhaust knocking on the underside.

Occasionally cuts out when cruising to a stop but ALWAYS starts back up again, I normally manage to bump it in gear again before I have stopped!

Speedo stopped working just after I got it but I have done about 1500 miles since then. Dont know whats wrong with it.

Small dent on front of bonnet, small hole in drivers seat, small crack in rear bumper.

Drivers window does not work - it needs a new regulator

Sunroof tilts but does not slide anymore (it did when I got it)

Car failed MOT on a front tyre, so I put 4 new ones on that have done less than 2000 miles, only advisory was the air bag warning light. It was owned by a work mate before me, his wife had it since new. Not much !official history, her brother was a mechanic so used to service it. I bought it when my rover broke down and I needed a car, I drove it from aberdeen to darlington, to manchester, to darlington and back to aberdeen over a week and it was fine, then used it to get to work and back every day for a month and was fine. There is no reason to suspect it wont run with no major problems for another year. As for price, I thought about £600 as it cost me £400 and I then put 4 tyres on it but you can have it for £500 - I wont take any less than that as if I could be bothered to spend a day fixing the electric problems, it would be worth £800 all day long. However, if you have a stash of SD1 parts I could do with a few bits / spares!

It has a private plate on it which I am taking off this week as the previous owner wants it back, I dont know how long it takes to get a new reg issued but I cant sell it till I get that sorted, then I need to get the new reg document through the post.
