Not much has happened just been getting parts and installing them and assembling, disassembling and assembling again the front struts. Something different from others cars is that I have 100% polybushed wattslinkage now... old bushes were shot so me and my dad had to go machine new bushes out of polyurethane to replace the old rubber poop. Should be stiff now! Twisted Evil

One door and boot door have been installed. Picture quality sucks even more than usually because my dad took it with his mobile.

Now the car has all doors.

A week back or something I found a fuel filler hatch from warehouse that had small rust spot in it (only surface rust and not rotten at all) and I cut a piece from sheet metal that was same shape as the lock hole. Welded it on and then used body soldering to fill the seams so it wont rust so easily.

I doubt its legal requirement here. I was thinking of using filler cap with a lock?

Fair enough, I was woundering if you were going to fit a 'remote release' like Mondeos have...could be an interesting idea really.

When you M.O.T. a car it must be fitted with a locking cap(or flap).

T.B.H I was a little busy at the time I wrote that reply and wasn't thinking about fitting a locking cap under the flap.

Though interestingly enough I once had a Ford Granada with a locking flap AND a locking cap underneath and still found both borken with the petrol syphoned one morning...Oh well too late to moan now.

Well,as with most of British automotive requirements
Quote:
Failure if:
"Fuel tank cap does not fasten securely.

Does leave a certain amount of interpretation,I've seen a vast difference(from past history in the automotive trade) between one M.O.T. station to another.

In other words some will fail for not locking others will give a warning notice...In practice though,It's only common sence to have a locking cap (or flap) in this day and age...
