I know this should go in the Wanted, but I guess more people look at the For Sale
Smile
I'm fitting an autobox in a car which is presently manual. Nearly there, but as usual there are some niggling bits missing.
I need the kickdown linkage for the standard SD1 3500 SUs, not the Stroms, not the GM180.

So, if you've gone 4-barrel and taken off your SU setup, read on:

Annoyingly, I have most of the linkage, I have the cable, the extension shaft that fits in the inlet manifold, the end support bracket that goes on the back of the manifold, what I specifically need is the bearing (and spacer?) that locates the shaft in the bracket.
If necessary I will buy the whole linkage. Or the whole setup, manifold n carbs n'all!
Can email you a picture to clarify if necessary.

I also need the pilot bearing that locates the BW66 torque convertor into the rear of the crankshaft. BW66 please note, not the 65, the diameter is different. No it's not! Was given a bum steer, I just dug out the 65 & 66 torque convertors and measured the nose, and they both need the same 3/4" steel pilot bush.

Presumably you do a lot of busy town driving to want to convert manual to automatic...

Most people want it the other way round, and you'll miss the long-legged low revs cruising nature of the five speed box (I do....)

I have no doubt someone should have the parts your looking for, good luck Razz

You seem to know more about the BW gearboxes than me.

I have a 1980 V8-S (1980) which came with the gearbox and torque converter, but no engine or flexplate. I assume that this car would have the BW66. I have obtained an engine from an earlier car ('77?) and I think it has the BW65.

-How can I tell whether the car's box is a 66 and whether the engine's box is a 65?
-What are the differences- I assume that the 66 is stronger/more reiable/smoother or similar- there must be a reason for the change.
-Can I swap the engine onto the car's gearbox?
-If not, can I swap the engine's box into the car?

many thanks in advance,

James

p.s.- I have the linkage, but need it myself. If you would like any photos or measurements I would be happy to help (although I can't until 16th December).

Very Happy I'm in no way an expert my friend, sorry.... Crying or Very sad

But there are many Series 1 and V8-S enthusiasts on here who will hopefully help you with your queries

Jay
