Hello. Google was so kind to show me a way into this forum, but it didn't show me the answer to my quest!

I'm searching for some kind of info or documentation, or whatever it is that helps me, for the two round carbs on my engine.

I've got a ford granada with a 3,5l rover v8 from an sd1 from before the changes they made in '85

dunno when the engine's from exactly, but it had the distributor and oil pump from the old model, so it must be an old model Smile

Anyhow. Since the engine isn't where it was supposed to be, and since I'm not a mechanic I know very little about those antique carbs. I know where on the manifold the water outlet is to be connected, and I know where to feed it fuel - and it runs. But what about all the other things? it seems to have 3-5 more holes than I have uses for!

And does anyone know if there's an easy way to connect the kickdown from the 3 speed auto box to it? cause from my point of view the cable from the box is simply too short to be attached sideways like the accellerator cable.

Oh and now I'm at it, does anyone know what oil filter I need for the engine? I changed the oil pump for one from a later model - or not the pump itself, but only the end part where you screw on the oil filter - so it didn't bump into the stabilizer anymore. But for some odd reason the .... erhm ... carvings? (gewinde in german, gevind in danish) are a slight bit too big, so the old filter doesn't fit. The inner part of it measures 19mm and 20,5mm when measuring on the outside of the 'carvings' The exterior circle measures approx 53mm inside and 62mm outside (not 100% sure about that, measured a couple days ago, and left the notes in the garage).

More info or pictures ask! Meanwhile, on my homepage there are a few (badly focused) pictures of the engine before and after changing all fittings.

Regards from Denmark

Hi How are you

The motor you have there is out of a P6B circa 1971 - 1976........

They are an SU carby......unlike on the SD1 which I have it has Stromberg
CD175 carbies.........

I hope that helps......I dont know much about the ones you have.

John

Is it really that old? I had the impression that it was from 82-84 somewhere. Not sure why though. But the distributor is the same on mine as it is on that model.
Anyhow, in the meantime we've figured out just about anything needed to run the engine. I just wonder if it has a choker feature of sorts, and if there's a way to connect the kickdown from the auto box - cause it's kinda hard to start it in those frosty morning hours now.

ps. I've learnt in the meantime that the oil pump is from a sd1 2500 - or at least the part where you put the oil filter. Took a while to find a filter that fit.

ps. anyone know if the speedometer cable from the granada and that of the sd1 is the same? cause I don't know where my gearbox is from, and by accident I smelted the speedo cable when the exchaust got hot, so that's not really working anymore.
