Stupid question but only efis and vitesses had ecu's didn't they ? I have a 2000 bodyshell with what looks like an ecu in what should tell me what it is ?

Hi Ramon on the unit it says electronic fuel control unit ADU8367 and the other number is 73259A . Just had a quick look in my efi for said ecu but could not find it .

Did a google on adu8367, its a carburetter control unit for 2000 sd1

Did I read/hear you right, you did not find your efi ecu? surely not?
If not - the front passenger footwell - peel back carpets, remove tin cover to expose a cradle holding ecu.
For ease of interchange since 1994, i removed ALL the metalwork and have the ECU on its lead protected by padding/newspaper in the same location. see piccy for efi ecu.
