In view of the bad weather does anybody know the state of the ground and if the national day is still on as it is a fair way to travel if it has been cancelled. Thanks.

This question has been asked on the SD1 club forum. The answer was
that it's going ahead - the field is on high ground, so drains.

Not sure what the access roads are like though? More heavy rain
predicted for Thursday too, so worth keeping an eye on the weather
and news....

CANCELLED
CANCELLED
CANCELLED

From the SD1 CLUB website

Quote

Afraid to say that due to the current weather situation the club has been forced to cancel the upcoming National Day on Sunday 29th July. The field at Hatton is very wet and the 4x4 on a caravan rally there today had to be towed off with a JCB.

Please pass on to anybody you know that might be planing to go on Sunday.

See you all at Spares Day 2 and the AGM on Sunday 9th September at the Heritage Centre, Gaydon.

My Vitesse is crying..... She wanted to strut her stuff!

The right decision though, I don't think any of us want to be
stuck in a field - even if we managed to dodge the showers
predicted for Sunday.

Perhaps run at Gaydon in September using the same program and trophies?

The 2007 National Rally will be held on Sunday, 29th. July at Wimpole Hall, Arrington, near Royston, Cambridgeshire.
RALLY
Wimpole is a National Trust property. Considered the grandest house in Cambridgeshire, set in an extensive wooded park, the Hall has fine interiors and fascinating servants quarters. The gardens should be at their best in July. The landscaped park has spectacular vistas, a Gothic folly and serpentine lakes, and offers delightful walks.

Adjoining the Hall is the Home Farm, built in 1794 for the 3rd. Earl of Hardwicke. It is home to a fascinating range of rare animal breeds. The Great Barn contains a collection of farm implements dating back 200 years. There is an adventure playground for older children, a playground including pedal tractors for younger children, and daily activities and demonstrations for the whole family.
There is a licensed restaurant, a National Trust shop, a toy shop and a secondhand bookshop.
Following the success of the dinner before last year’s event a local hotel has been booked for dinner on the Saturday evening. SEE BELOW
The National Trust do not charge for entry to the area where the rally will be held, but rally-goers will be able to decide which of the attractions they wish to visit, and will be entitled to purchase entry tickets on the day at the reduced rates applicable to groups. National Trust members have free admission.

The rally entry fee of £4 covers administration costs and includes a plaque.
The event is open to Rovers and non-Rover classics, and all Rover enthusiasts are welcome to attend. There will be awards for the best vehicles in various classes between 1904 and 2006. As usual there will be a raffle, and if anyone can bring a raffle prize to donate to the raffle, this will be greatly appreciated.
Cars can arrive at the rally from 10.30a.m. on the day. There is a 10m.p.h. speed limit within the park. Dogs are permitted within the park, but must be kept on leads in areas where livestock are grazing. There are toilets in the Stableyard and at the east end of the Hall. The Stableyard Servery, Old Rectory Restaurant and Farm Kitchen will be open from 10.30a.m., serving drinks, snacks and hot food.
Sunday Lunch is served in the Restaurant from 12noon until 2.30p.m..
Entries on the day will be welcome, but it is preferable if as many people as possible can book in advance using the entry form .

From the RSR

My commiserations that the SD1 national has been cancelled, I did not
realise the clash of dates when I posted the invitation to the RSR Rally a few
days ago..

As Ramon says and as I posted earlier, any SD1s or for that matter any
Rover enthusiasts are welcome at the RSR National Rally.

We have spoken to Wimpole Hall and they are confident that they can safely
accommodate us with room to spare. So if any one wants to attend please
do so, it is too late now to do any advance booking but all entries can be
taken on the day.

Regards

Paul
