Under the Bonnet, its got a Pancake type airfilter, Edelbrock Carb, and performance manifold. On a V8 obviously. I mean theres nowt wrong with the 2400 TD. or the Sixes. Or the fourpot. I just wanted an SD1, and prefered one with a V8 Wink .

Body work seems alright, but many paint chips i need to get a grip on, before i wake up with a pile of ferrous oxide where my car used to be! (oh, and that wierd external sunvisor thingy has gone). The wheels i've got on it are shot (most of them have been kerbed at least once), the headlining is droopy to say the least, and the inside of the C-Pillars is peeling.

Oh, and the arches are all rusty.
And the electrics sometimes stop working.
And i'm scared to drive it in the rain we're having at the mo.

But once it starts, and i hear that V8 rumble, all the bad things go away....

Now, if only i can find some decent wheels, and a decent bodyshop/restorer in the Oxfordshire area who wont cost the earth..... Very Happy

Nice looking car, any chance of a under bonnet photo?

It's the same for all of us.

Yeah, I think it was just a home made jobby (natually, someone will be on shortly saying its a rare dealer option and i've binned a piece of history Wink ) It was just a piece of pressed steel, clamped onto the front drainage gutters.

Problem is, i do quite a lot of motorway miles, and the 70+ Mph wind was causing it to bend upwards. and yep, it definatly caught a heck of a lot of bugs, and seemed to kill my fuel consumption.

Just thought I would let you know that this was my first SD1 which I bought 4 years ago. It had what turned out to be an engine problem at the time but I am glad to see it is still on the go. I wish you all the best with it Wink

Exactly the same reason why Ive had mine for 10 years and even when times were very hard she stayed!

Nice car that matey, saw it on ebay, glad you got rod of that god awful sunvisor! Would look fine on a 50s yank but not on a SD.

Hey nice car, i was very tempted when it was on ebay but i was going away the day after it finished. looks better without that airbrake bug catcher thing.

Ah well, the time has come...

I'm leaving the brotherhood of SD1 Ownership Sad . Due to a change in circumstances (I'm doing a HELL of a lot more miles than i ever expected, and this is my only transport), and the fact that the tinworm has caught hold, i figure i might as well pass her onto someone with at least a modicum of mechanical/bodywork nous, before i run yet ANOTHER car into the ground! (I'm getting better though, this is the first car i've ever had, that i've managed to keep running up until the MOT is due!)

Going for an MOT on the 28th, get whatever needs sorted, sorted out, and then its gonna be Ebay time.

(BTW, please don't take this as a thinly disguised 'FOR SALE' advert, as it isn't. mostly. I'm just getting rid before i completely kill what has the potential to be a very nice car!)
