Great news! Sounds like a very nice car, having had a lot of recent work.

Colour is great too - does the SD1 not suit any standard colour?!

Very similar story when I collected my SD1 a couple of years ago.
The seller was almost tearful and told me to take care of it!

You got a very good car then, a decent respray costs the earth!

Very nice indeed, visually very similar to my own (when I can get my confounded refurbed Vitesse wheels back)

Interestingly, it has a Metro/Maestro/Montego Vanden Pls steering wheel, I think it looks very good, similar to the US-spec SD1 wheel, and the "VDP" motif in centre, may get one myself, to keep my original wheel as immaculate as it is.

Enjoy the car

Jay

I thought that as well. It also looks exactly like the wheel i had on my Mini Mayfair. It must all be the same fitting for Austin Rover cars.

Sorry for the thread hijack, but can I ask where you are getting your rims done? My car is in Hants, and I'd like a local recommendation.

Carry on!

Edited to add; Stunning VDP, Kerosene, by the way - unusual colour too, do you know what it's called?

Kerosene's car looks the same colour as mine which is Oporto Red (Is that right Kerosene?)

The only difference is mine has a tan leather interior

My wheels are being dealt with by a bodyshop in Hilsea, Portsmouth, I can't vouch for them as yet, because I've yet to see my wheels done (he's had them since Oct 06....)

He is very slow (any regular users of this forum will vouch for my frustration - when signed on as a guest - awaiting some body repairs to be done)

But having said that, his workmanship is superb, he did a really good job on the body, so hopefully the wheels will be good too.

I'm on a night shift tonight (Friday night) so I'll pop and see him on the way home from work tomorrow morning, and get the name of his premises for you.

Last time I went in there he had a Ford Capri, a Lotus Carlton, a Daimler Limo, an original BMW M535, some old Audi amoungs others all waiting to be done, and a vintage (and I mean vintage, as in Goldfinger style) Rolls Royce......

I'll update you as soon as I can

Nice looking car Kerosene Very Happy but can anybody answer some queries ?
For a vanden plas shoudn't it have wood on the dash as well (the dash looks original) also the plinth on the back shouldn't it be black on a B reg .

Don't mean to nit pick but if it was sold to you as a vdp then it does not look like one . Still looks in very very nice nick though .

Does it say Vanden Plas on the Log book?
