I'm not a fan of RPi either, after their advice to dodgy idle on my
Vitesse was "convert it to carbs" - yeah, right, and I'll do that when
I spray it pink.

Rimmers are pretty good and I don't prescibe to the 'rip off' brothers
naming by some. They are not perfect, and I've had buggered up orders
and dodgy advice, but they have invested a shed load of money to get
the stuff back from India, despite the SD1 not quite attaining full classic
status yet. It'll be worth going up for the spares day to see an old
aircraft hanger full of SD1 body panels!

I believe a SD1 is a classic, full stop. It's wedge shape is a part of the 80's. I love to go to the spare day in rimmer bros.If it happens that when i buy a vitesse around the same time as the spares day i'll come along.

Agreed I o think the Sd1 is now a classic, after my trip on Monday which confirmed this by all the looks at traffic lights and people wanting to talk to me about my car at the fuel station.

Regarding Rimmers, yes they have messed up a few orders for me BUT where else can you new o/e parts for a 3 years old car at now bargain prices and have them delivered to your door within 48 hours.

Out of interest mate, who suggested converting it to carbs??
Seems strange we would suggest that as we prefer injection generally Confused Confused
Its understandable as to why that would put you off Sad Confused

And Tim,i cant see why you would rather pay extra £30/£35 when ours are perfectly good ones Confused

I can't remember - it was over a year ago. My problem was with wear on the
throttle shafts and bush surfaces, so wouldn't be an easy fix.

I would rather pay more and have a new one, plus I wont pay money to rpi as I dont agree them breaking perfectly good SD1s purely for financial gain, if its a rotteted out example then fine but for years ive heard the stories of nice cars being broken up for parts.

To be fair mate, the cars we break there are Range Rover Classics.
There are a few SD1's about there which are rotten and waiting in line to be broken.

The blue one had the engine taken out, fair enough but it only got as far as that before Chris came out and said,NO,dont break it up because its just to good. Wink

Its sat there now waiting for someone to save it,he has offered it me but i just cant afford a project car at the minute Sad
It was on ebay at a silly price but now he wants peanuts for it.

Also,in RPI's defence.
Over the years he has helped keep probarbly thousands on the road and running well, and restoring a few of them even Wink
