I've heard lots about supercharging V8's including SD1'S.I've seen a website about supercharging V8 SD1's with Whipple Superchargers.I seriously considering supercharging an SD1 in future so are they any good?

I know so far that the engine needs a complete overhaul, cooling system needs upgrading, and not to buy an M80 supercharger according to the RPi's website(because the land rover defender they applied it to catascroficly expolded) Laughing .Due to fuel/air mixture being not precise enough.

A mate of mine in the old SD1 mania days had a supercharged example which was hilarious and looked like a 50s drag car with fat wheels at the back and a huge air intake poking out the bonnet!

Problem was he struggled to get it to run right, its a very costly exercise but of course does give good performance results, you would need to upgrade the whole engine I would expect.

Is that the moonraker blue one i seen on ebay with the big blower on the bonnet?Around last summer.

I asked him what the 0-60 was and he said to the effect of "never looked down, keep eyes on the road" Laughing

Yes that was dannys car, affectionatly known as E.T. as the air intake on the supercharger looked like ETs head! Very Happy He did spend a fortune on it, and I think it did eat gearboxes!

Depends on how much power you want, the V8 is so tuneable without forced induction, but remember its ok making it go fast but it needs to stop and go round corners aswell, anyone who owns a 2 pot caliper model (me included) that they are "leisurely" and the handling is entertaining! Very Happy

Laughing . I remember him mentioning it was automatic in the stats table!! . Can you fit the American pro drag shifters?.There usually advertised in the classic american magazine. I got this idea because the v8 is american so isn't the transmission as well?

Well i'll be looking for about 400-500bhp, does this sounds a bit optimstic?
im thinking bigger alloy radiator, twin kenlowe fans, complete engine overhaul with new componets, maybe a rebore to 3.9 or 5.2,oil cooler, hardened componets in the engine and gearbox.
