Wow, Shocked

Brave man. It's a shame to think that only 10 years back I broke a couple that were better than that Embarassed Embarassed . I think most of us probably have!

Keep us updated with the progress.

Can we have a new topic completely on this car so we can watch it's progress and you don't have to keep adding to this 1 post?

I have a Off side full new rear quarter, but will make an arch for the other and front wings, I will just build them from sections of sheet steel, will be starting after the school holidays so will post pics of the progres, the rear N/S arch has now been cut back to good metal.
It was a car you would have stripped for the engine really but I wanted to find one that needed this sort of work. Its in the memory of my father who had many Sd1's and would have loved this restoration.

This is a car I did in the past, had it since I was 17, it was stolen at the start of this year, I have tracked it to a scrap yard in Yorkshire, but the DVLA won't let the yard sell me it back Sad

Sadly it was in storage..or so I thought, but it had been stolen and left in the steet, the police and council picked it up and sent it to the scrap yard, the ID is gone and thats that, I have spent weeks trying to get it back,Police,DVLA the yard and its just imposible to get her back,
This just does not happen and the DVLA don't know what to do, they break their own law if they give me the go ahead to get it back from the yard.
This is how she looks now

No its a total loss on the car, I must have lost something like 3K on that Triumph, it was more this history value, me and my late father found all the parts and worked on the car.
I could name every part(which is a lot,it was much like the SD1 in condition + hand painted silver and black)yeah I could name every part,Panel and where it came from, even the cost.

I would have thought if there was no insurance payout then legally the car is still yours and you are allowed to just turn up there with a truck and remove it. And the scrapyard will also surely have to reimburse you for any parts from the car that they have sold.

And if there was no insurance it can't be on any write-off register can it? You should be able to give it a new id (same as the old id!) and that's that.

Surely the law cannot prevent you taking posession of your own property.

I would agree, where was the car stolen from and was it insured?

Nope its still sat a few feet off the floor with no wheels on waiting, its just to cold here to do anything.
I'm on with another SD1 project, this is at home in the garage so a lot better, I'm after a chassis plate for it and some under bonnet decals if anyone knows where I can get some.
This is an A reg 2300s Auto, but I have fitted a 2600s engine and 5 speed box, sent the logbook back to DVLA to tell them of the change and they have sent it back to say they can't update it till its taxed! I won't be putting Tax on it till next Aug when it should be ready to hit the road..........they tell you to tell them of any change as soon as posible then send it back to say they can't do it Shocked

Any news on the Herald? Valid points were made in this topic about it. You were not paid out, therefore it is yours.

Sadly there was no way I could have the Herald back,we went down every avenue to try and get it back, I would have thought it will be crushed as the DVLA was not happy with the yard keeping it so long.
A sad end Crying or Very sad
