What became of the British Racing Green SD1 Jeremy Clarkson drove in one of his videos. If I recall it started as a gold SD1 3500, and was modified with a 5.0litre engine, Vitesse Alloys and Cosworth bodykit.

I seem to remember "Jezza" actually quite liked it, and didn't he thrash an NSX or a Skyline MaxPower special or something in it?

Is that vid still available, I'd love to see it again (and the car if it still exists)

Jay

Thanks, my neighbour actually had a copy, and he's given it to me (perhaps he feels sorry for me)

That's a crying shame about the shell, presumeably all the good bits were taken off first.

That car was infact one of the many reasons I`ve stuck with SD1`s and not buggered off and bought a few jag sovereign`s...which I still love...

I had a Soverign 5.3 v12 with a sports ss exhaust wich was fun and my dad has an Aston Martin DB7 Vantage 6.0l manual box, sports exhaust and 450bhp of V12 fun, Shocked so its fair to say i like v12's when the time comes for something a bit exotic, but nothing really gets to me like a tuned V8 for fun, noise and general simplicity and ease of mind which means untill I my bank account develops magical properties and I can afford a Corvette/Trans-Am or an AMV8 is why i keep coming back to the Rovers

How about making your own V8 XJ-S manual? Underbonnet space shouldn't be a problem, should sound nice through those twin exhausts too....

Dont think that thoughts never crossed my mind!! Very Happy
I'm sure I'ts been done as the yanks love ousting the six pots from jags when they go wrong and shoehorning their own designs of lovleyness under the 'hood'..
It just seems wrong though because the jag engies were so good and worked really well with the car,

I am however perpetually toying with the idea of dropping a small block chevvy under the bonnet of my SD1 to replace the limpness and expense that is the rover V8

Imagine that................. 350hp within easy reach engine parts prices cheaper than a 1989 fiesta and real performance without breaking the bank and the whole conversion could be done for less than a pair of really good cylinder geads for an Rv8

Yeah its sat round the back of RPI in the field.
While working there i kept goin out and looking at it. Crying or Very sad

No doubt when i go back to work there in January it will still be there even more rotten Crying or Very sad Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil

The engine was a 5.2,and was actually a customers engine.
(He gave them his permission of course).
Jezza actually TRIED to blow the engine up as it was brand new and not even run in properly Laughing
It did'nt let go and when stripped down once the engine was back out it had held up very very well indeed.

I put the cage and harness's from it in the 4.2 Top Gear SD1.
Just such a shame Chris did'nt do what he said he would and improve it yet more so,race it and use it as a demo car.
Thats why Chris bought my wide arch SD1 off me,he was going to use the brakes, suspension, wheels and kit on it to make it corner properly Cool
Or put all the godd stuff off it onto mine be he did'nt do either Crying or Very sad Evil or Very Mad

Hey,if the shells still there, could be a good startin point for my project maybe??? Confused Rolling Eyes Idea
