I had a phone call from my dear old aunt last night, shes well inher 70s and has decided thankfully to give up driving, which means her 1991 Maestro 1.3 Clubman neds a new home. My uncle her late husband bought it new and had it serviced every year by the local garage even though the car rarely did 1000 miles a years sometimes. She let her granson use the car for the last 12 months when he passed his test but hes gone to uni now and its sitting dormant.
The car now has approx 20000 miles on it with history to back it up, and is MOTed until June 2007 but the tax expired today!
Does anyone on here know of or is a Maestro enthusiast that will find a home for it, the bodys quite good but is by no way immaculate as it has been used and not garaged. Im hoping it wont get bought buy someone just as a cheap runabout for 8 months then scrap it.
I am collecting the car on saturday from Bromsgrove on trade plates and will bring it back to my house.
Money? Well whats it worth? Whatever I get for it (shes not expecting much) I will give to my aunt as its her car.
Thanks! _________________ 1979 Rover SD1 V8-S

Must be a Maestro club out there, another 20 years from now that would be a dream find, I knew of a mint one owner from new sat in a lock up.
I had a Maestro van, start up first time every time, you could go anywhere in it and not worry you wouldn't get there and so cheap to run.
Wish ya luck falla _________________ Keep smiling |

There is a strong link between the SD1 and the Maestro - they were both styled
by David Bache. Though you wouldn't have thought so! |

Lol people slate the maestro and sometimes I think its unfair, my aunts car has never broken down in 15 years and has never been garaged yet is still solid. The little A+ engine is peppy and reliable and unlike todays engines is easy to work on and as simple as you could get! _________________ 1979 Rover SD1 V8-S

My dad once had an MG Montego (between his SD1's) with a digital,
talking dash. Seems these are now ultra-rare as they were only
made for a year or so before going back to analogue, non-chatty
dashes. Red seatbelts too (which seemed cool at the time). |

Ok well a update as promised, i fetch it home today and it be honest its not as described and I am very disappointed, the last time I saw it was 2002 when it had approx 15000 miles on it and it was in nice condition, since then my aunt in her infinite wisdom let her grandson use the car to go to university, he has no interest in cars whatsoever and its never been cleaned in that 4 years.
It has been serviced and MOTed each year but the bodys now not good, both rear arches are rusty but not rotten, theres a crease in the nsf wing and theres rust here and ther nothing structual, the headlining has sagged and there dents and marks as would befit a15 year old car, I cant get the boot to close and the alternator whirs at a certain engine speed.
Also the mileage of 20000 miles is out by 13700!! as its now covered 33700 which is still low, it does have MOT until June.
The car does have a JVC cd player and a tilt slide manual sunroof which I think was factory fit?
If anyone interested still let me know if not I will stick it on ebay.
