Almost too good to be true:

Two catches,
1. It's in Perth.... Western Australia.
2. It's a Standard 2000 - the Indian SD1. Which actually makes it even
more unusual.... |

It's still a 19 year old car. All the rubber bushes will need replacing, oil, fuel seals as well. The interior is tatty, look at the picture of the boot and the speaker covers. At it's as basic as you can get!
Not for me sorry. _________________ If you're goin' to mod it, start with something worth moddin'. |

It's got no heater or aircon (whatever the listing says). How odd: surely even in India you'd require a cold air blower at the very least?
And the straight exhaust must have meant the interior filled with petrol fumes from that Vanguard engine.
The dashboard wood looks like plastic, though the stuff on the doors looks real.
And the spare wheel cover indicates to me that Standards did not have the boot boards of Rovers. |

Quite a few little differences if you look. The Standard badge on the bonnet and
right of the centre vents inside (and STANDARD name on the steering wheel
where we'd expect ROVER, VITESSE or Vanden Plas). Lack of heated rear-window
switch, no radio (presumably the average driver in India is too busy fending off
TucTucs to listen to the radio!).
Fascinating stuff! |

If it gets to these shores, it should remain as a Standard 2000.
I'm not one to keep cars in a museum and unused, but this is quite
possibly the only Standard 2000 in anything like showable condition
and is part of the SD1 story.
Besides, it's gonna cost £3k+ to ship from down-under. It'd be
cheaper to buy a complete bodykit from Rimmers and build one
from scratch |

It does say £3500, reserve not met!
I don't think it would cost as much as £3,000 to ship it over. it is not as expensive to ship a car as it used to be. _________________ Drives a 4.6 300 BHP TP Vitesse! SD1 Club Member. Car of the Month Dec 06, winner of Car of the year 2007! |
