Did anyone ever see the short lived BBC Choice/BBC 3 (UKTV in Australia) comedy series Fun at the Funeral Parlour? If you saw the episode "Gwynne's Marvellous Medicine" you will see guest stars Phil Cornwell and Forbes Mason as funeral directors in their "Fast Funerals Ltd" SD1 described as a Vitesse, however I have my doubts. The car has the regular Vitesse spoiler, but looks more like a VdP. The number plate is A694KFC and in the close up is looks like it is registered with a club as a sticker with an SD1 image is on the windscreen.

Is anyone the owner? If so, this was the car that made me buy an SD1!

Oh, by the way, the car features quite heavily in the episode and it is available to buy on DVD so it is worth buying.

I too enjoyed this series, the main reasons are the characters were welsh, like me....

I don't remember the SD1, perhaps I missed that one but I do remember one line....

Welsh accent: "It's only a poxy Mini!" Reply: "It's not a Mini, it's a Panda!"

I suppose you need to see it to appreciate the comedic value Sad

Well, we have a celebrity on the forum. This is quite extraordinary. It looks like it from the photos, but they never had any major close ups of the car on the show. The one thing I did notice was that the trim of the rear pillars (the ones under the tailgate) were badly torn (due to a back seat close up with Phil Cornwell and Alex Lowe), but from all the other angles it looked quite handsome.

I am very surprised that it was not listed advertising it's celebrity status. As a fan of FATFP I must ask, did it come with anything from the show? The "Fast Funerals" logo perhaps or leftover marks on the paintwork saying things like "Whoopi Goldcrap" and "Sister Act Poo"?
If you haven't seen the show yet then this is all new for you, but trust me when you get the DVD it will all be clear. Did the previous owner explain about it's appearance in FATFP? I am really interested and knowing it's in an enthusiast’s hands now rather than the scrap yard. I suppose it was Rhys Thomas' sick sense of humour to find a Rover SD1 with "KFC" in the registration (maybe a Vitesse was too expensive to hire).

Had the car for a couple of days now
also just watched the episode of "fun at the Funeral parlour"
the seller said nothing of its celebrity status
I only found this out due to googling A694KFC & being directed to this Topic

It has nothing with it from that program
apart from the torn trim on the rear pillars

the car has been stood for nearly five years untill being sold to me
so she is slowly being recommisioned (passed the MOT though)
some paint to sort
main rot in osf wing nr front spoiler

previous owner is also going to copy some film of it going the drag strip
with some reasonable times

so thanks Adam for this topic or I would never have known about its telly history
