if you are desperate you could try asking room05 on ebay via the contact member link. hugh breaks sd1s so may have one ready to go.
i can ask on the club forum as well if you want, assuming you're not registered on there? _________________ rover sd1 club member 4311

Julian, If you KNOW the transducer is faulty - read no further.
Alternatively it might be something else:

Julian, personally, as built and fitted to the car, I believe the transducer and its immediate wiring are pretty much bulletproof. I mean it not like "Rover" built them is it.
Unfortunately they don't remain properly fitted with the wires correctly secured adjacent to the transducer.
When ever someone works on the gearbox, clutch, exhaust pipe, etc you can bet your bottom dollar the wiring is not re-secured properly in its original clamp.
This leads eventually to vibration strains on the wires where they exit from the epoxy filler and one will fracture long before the electronics even thinks of failing.
Fortunately a fractured wire can be repaired because there is quite a lot of epoxy to dig out, join the wires and refill with an epoxy mountain. (similar to "close encounters of the third kind" - ).
From your description of occasional speedo reading your fault is almost certainly an intermittant external connection because electronics component simply do not fail that way.
Its rare to have an intermittant electronic failure, unless, for example, a circuit board is subject to vibration as per the Efi ECU's or there is gross overheating, and it does not get particularly hot down at the tail of the gearbox.
Suggest you follow my test procedure before shelling out for a new one.
You never know how lucky you can get, so do the lotto this week too. _________________ Ramon
