I was planning on removing the kickdown on my GM180, but I read somewhere on this forum that leaving the kickdown-cable out the box will leak (something with oil-pressure) amongst other things. But would it be possible to put the cable in a fixed position so that there is some tension on the cable and therefore no leaking?

Removing the cable from the box also removes the valve and the box will gush transmission fluid. Just disconnect the cable from the kickdown quadrant attached to the accelerator mechanism and the function is disabled so it will stay in a higher gear if you try to accelerate rapidly. I believe the box will otherwise act normally.
