Hi all, this is a general question that is probably a mechanics job, but I'm not really in mood for visiting one as this issue might be solved by myself. Ever since my 84 SD1 came back from having new trans mounts put in, I have had this annoying whistling sound I have traced to the belt that runs on the air con compressor (I think - it's the unit mounted on the LHS of the front of the engine - if you were looking from the windscreen forward). If I give it a quick spray with a little lubricant the sound disappears, but when I go to start it later on it comes back. Does this sound like an adjustment job, or is a new belt required. It seems to only be coming from the compressor unit, not on the flywheel it connects to lower and centre of the front of the engine.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
