i think really the idea is to find somewhere with hardstanding, and somewhere that doesn't charge you a tenner to get in!!!
apart from those two major problems i like billing. it's nearer for me than the midlands area, and you can have a nice walk round. not like rimmers yard!! _________________ rover sd1 club member 4311

Hi,
Yeah - having your car stolen would be hard to take - but then the bastards go and burn it out .............they should be shot!
I noticed that you had clear ifront ndicators on your Vitesse - do you know whehter they available in the UK or elsewhere? I'd be interested in buying a pair if they are.
Regards,
Paul. |

As it turned out, Rimmers WERE at the National/Spares Day two....
I do hope that Rimmers will be attending the National this year too, am looking forward to it being at Crich Tramway Museum, also it's just up the road from me!!
Am sorry to hear that your Vitesse was pinched Red, think an alarm or some anti theft device is in order for my beast then..... _________________ Auto Vitesse, gonna be a beast! |

They are series 1 indicator lenses, with the yellow bit removed. I think
you need to warm the plastic in hot water to get it to fit. |

Many thanks for that information on the clear indicators Lee & Chris. I will try to chase up a pair of Series 1 indicator lenses down here in Oz.

Hi Lee,
the supply of SD1 parts is not too bad at the moment, but as time goes by it will become more difficult. Generally there is one or two SD1s for sale on ebay and now and again someone will part one out.
I have purchased spares from Rimmers who I found to be good - but the postage on parts from the UK is very expensive. I recently bought a set of door veneer trims and a few other bits and pieces and the postage was damn near 50 quid UK!
One of my friends is a Rover tragic (lucky for me) and has six or seven SD1s, and several P5s, P5Bs and P3s on his hobby farm just outside of Canberra. He built a huge shed to house his collection, but it can't cope with the all Rovers plus a Jensen Interceptor two '59/'60 Alvis and some Vanguards. So several cars are forced to sit out in the elements. He has been a great source of spares for my '85 VDP - I will see if he has any Series 1 indicator lights when I next visit with him.
I currently have the '85 SD1 VDP, a '71 P5B Coupe, a '57 MG Magnette and a '78 Ford Falcon. All are registered and used for club outings - except for the Falcon, which I have owned for 26 years and is currently awaiting some TLC before taking to the roads again.
Regards,
Paul. |

Hi Paul - can relate to that car collection I have my Rover, but also 2 Holden Sunbirds, both paked up. One with the good ol' 202 and a supra gearbox, the other with a 350 chev waiting to be fitted properly when I get the time and inclination again. Should sell them, but I've had them for years and can't bear to think of getting rid of them lol.
Hold on to that Falcon, they're getting rarer and rarer eh! |
