This might be a bit of a lightweight problem to be tackling after the hassles I've had lately, but the Vitesse has developed an annoying foible.
The trip computer resets itself after about 4/5 start-ups. It goes through a cycle of illuminating each red "button" light in order, then clears all stored data. It also resets the clock, which is a bit annoying, as I don't wear a watch!
I've changed the interface unit, it now (mostly) reads correct inst. fuel cons, so I'd like to check my ave over a period of say a week.
Has this ever happened to anyone else?
Cheers

Hello Tommo,

The most likely reason the TC restarts is because your 12 volt feed to the TC directly from the battery via fuse C3 then to the TC pickup point J4, is being interrupted, perhaps due to a loose connection, loose fuse or maybe a bad earth.

See the circuit diagram here:

For the pickup point index and the associated circuit. Look for C3 fuse and J4 p-up point.

Alternatively the battery voltage is going too low during cranking which could be checked with a voltmeter. The same fuse feeds all the courtesy lights, so getting a reading should be easy.

Otherwise the connector to the TC is loose.

Finally the TC may be faulty.

Cheers Ramon!
I'll get on it when I get a bit of spare time!
