pretty much....the sump will be a little different(it won't fit the SD1)the water pump and impeller housing will be different and the ansilaries are all in the wrong place for us.

the block and injection are the same ( the injection alone would go for £100-£200 over here), its even the same compression ratio for a Vitesse.

For a little bit of fiddling it could be a cheap motor(not to mention spare injection parts)

yeah I noticed that the alternator was on the "wrong" side so I figured there might be a bit of fiddling - thanks for the reply Smile , good to know what to look out for in terms of spares eh.

Heads are different, and the compression ratio is not the same as the
Vitesse (9.75:1).

Sorry,my bad.I guess I must be losing it in my old age...I was working from memory.Theres very little difference in the heads according to David Hardcastles book(different valves as Vitesse have waisted stems). The compression ratio is the same as a carb model SD1 V8....It would still be able to run quite well in a vitesse though, with very little in power change by all accounts. The Cam may well be different but again nothing to be worrying.

I think the cam is identical across all SD1 applications, and some
Range Rover too. The Rimmers page says a bit:

However, I'm dubious of that information due to this statement on the
page:

Note: Some later Rover Vitesses, notably twin plenum models, were fitted
with alternative camshafts, double valve springs, larger diameter rocker
shafts and adjustable rocker gear. These parts are now generally unavailable
but may be replaced using parts listed below.

I don't believe any road TP left the factory with anything other than the
standard camshaft.

Hi my tp came very standard looking with near all usual garage bills from local garages .After its first known strip down found slight higher lift cam + duplex chain as standard single springs cam appears to have exact same lift as a viper hurricane cam [same lift stampings on end of cam]-profile looks near identical also.
Iwas led to believe the last few tps had a veriety of parts used + definitely not all the same .An even older mech than me once rebuilt a complete original tp in an aberdeen main dealer that i also worked -with two afm fitted ? One piston had poor tollerances + burning oil .I disputed this but confirmation was given by someone else.Factory fitted. Question
