Not sure of the background to your story.
Have a look at the calibre of our highway patrol people here in NZ

They are hell bent on issuing minor speeding tickets here (anything over 10kmh too high). Slow drivers, not stopping for Stop signs and dangerous overtaking seem to be largely ignored. |

I had a good laugh with these posts, but I live in North Wales where the speeding fines are sadly handed out like golf sale flyers. I agree that speeding in a thirty zone is stupid, but on an empty motorway? Even coppers I know here think its a load of crap and it makes a lot of grief for the welsh police, especially when they would rather be nicking real crims, like those climbing through your kitchen windows at night. It’s worse, as crime is getting out of control here, and plod is tied up catching those going over 74.9 mph on an empty motor way at 3am.
This might make you smile, I hope. When Brunstum's daughter was clocked going WELL over the limit in a 30 zone, he wrote to the chief of that area and said that the fine and points would 'ruin her chances of getting the job she wanted'. The reply to this 'no excuses' speeding nutter (that was leaked along with the personal letter to him) was...
"...Speeding is a very serious offence, we should not get involved in mitigating circumstances, and we will deal with it in the appropriate manner..."
she was done.
Haha.
Tough shit, Mr Brunstum. |
