The black auto Vitesse is a '85 VDP EFI,its owned by Helen Andrews (SD1 club secretary). It was also used as the basis of the Corgi/Vanguard SD1 models......Cool or what?

Nice car indeed....

I just speculated it was a Vitesse because in the magazine it has the Vitesse light grey ambience, the soft cloth light grey Vitesse seats, no cruise, no air-con, no leather, all of which I thought was standard kit on the ultimate SD1 (to me the VDP Efi is.... Very Happy )

Having said that, I have always found the Vitesse seats to be very comfortable items indeed, moreso than the VDP dare I say, so I wouldn't blame Helen for changing them to Vitesse items

But then of course the mag may have used a stock piccie of a Vitesse interior

if it had vitesse seats it was a stock photo. helen's car has the standard velour seats, because her dog ate the leather ones.
the vanden plas efi was, like the vitesse, built to order, so you could specify what you wanted in the way of aircon, cruise etc.
the colour however is not original, it used to be moonraker blue as you will know if you possess the laurence hogg dvds!

The car in the pics has cruise control - you can see the third stalk in the
interior pic on p107, along with the cruise control actuator and pump in the
engine bay. Air con was always a cost option on the VDP (though
someone recently found a review of the series 1 VDP indicating it was
standard fitment). Only home-market model with standard air-con was
the V8-S. Leather was standard, but the velvet seats were a no-cost
option.
