Your picture could be of the channel for the rear of the rear door.

J,
The manual mirror assy's come complete with mounting brackets - all lovely stoved black and new as a pin. Remember they are handed so the L and R hand brackets are different.

As far as I can tell all the other red herrings are a wild goose chase barking up the wrong tree after taking the wrong turn at the fork in the road. Personally I blame SatNav.

All other suggestions as per my prior post.

If your replacing the window guide, I think you have to take the window & operating mechanism out as well. Quite a tricky job, but not impossible, watch out for cut wrists on the edges of the door openings. Also helps to have a second pair of hands to support the glass etc.

I've had a crack this morning at fitting it, but it appears Rimmers have sent me the wrong side, I appear to have the LHS on instead despite being labelled RHS....possibly been mislabelled at warehouse

It doesn't appear too bad to fit, 2 x screws where it screws to the window frame, and a bolt where it fits to the inner door, thats where I discovered it was the wrong side sent, the lower mounting bracket is going the wrong way....

I'll keep you all updated

I've had this problem with Rimmers too, Ordered a brake pipe last summer, rear drum to rear drum, they said it was in stock, it came & it was the pipe for rear flexi to rear drum, but clearly labelled with the worng part number....
Luckily I also needed that pipe, so I kept it & had to make a new pipe up....
Think they've had that many parts from India that there's bound to be some mix up!

Fantastic, all now fitted and OK, as advised quite straight forward albeit a little fiddley and tricky, especially with my huge "Schrek" hands Rolling Eyes

Firstly, lower the front window as far as it will go BEFORE you remove the door card and with it the electric window controls Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

After careful removal of the door card (don't forget the screw in the interior door pull.... Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes ) there are two screws in the foremost area of the window frame, undo these, and carefully remove the rubber window channel seal

There is a bolt towards the bottom of the door, undo this (although it didn't matter for me, the whole channel fell apart at the top)

Carefully feed the new channel down the door, taking care not to snag or trap any wiring down there

Refasten the bolt, and screw the bracket back into the door frame, then guide the channel rubber back down into the door and reattach onto your new wing mirror bracket.

There was no need to dismantle the window mechanism or central locking system.

I took the opportunity to clean up the wiring for the lecky windows, now the two front windows glide up and down now as they should, not just the driver's as before.

I fear the rears will have seized, judging by the stiffness of the doors themselves and the "unsat in" appearance of the rear seats, I suspect the rear seats on this car have rarely if ever been used....till now Very Happy

Anyhow, a job worthwhile, it's surprising how much I missed that mirror, and how often I (subconsciously) used it....

This maybe something you have considered but my back lecky windows returned when I replaced the dash electric window isolator switch, as they were hardly used for a while.
