welcome mate.
nice to see someone taking on a project like that. we've seen too many vitesses like yours (and more so the twin plenums) getting broken for kitcar engines of late.
the body looks surprisingly good if it's not been used for many years.
i look forward to some progress! _________________ rover sd1 club member 4311

It looks a lot better in the photo, the front of bonnet is shot as is the tailgate lower edge. Two doors are useable with the worst two on the dreivers side. Strut tops / inner wings show no sign of rust neither is there any at rear shocker tops. The boot floor is good and no welding has ever been done. Seems not too bad where the rear arch / sill meet.

Sounds like you've a good car there if the shell is without rust and hasn't been welded. Are you aware new bonnets, tailgates and doors (and other bits) are available fom Rimmers in Lincoln? Definitely worth checking the fuel tank out - there are numerous reports recently of running problems with EFi cars traced back to crud in the tank from standing.
Where did this car come from - there was a silverleaf 'A' reg Vitesse offered some months back near Bristol. |

I know of Rimmers and have used them in the past and wonder if they still do those cheap deals with big discounts. Seem to remember that they were towards the end of the year.
Wrong end of the UK for the car, it had been languishing in a shed for the past 15 years or there abouts near Aberdeen. |

Does that mean you're from Scotland. There are a few of us up here - I live in Falkirk |

Seem to remember that they were towards the end of the year. | There was a 15% discount for this weekend's SD1 Club Spares Day 2. Rimmers normally have a 20% discount just after New Year.
The first SD1 Club spares day of the year (in April) has been at Rimmers premises near Lincoln for the past two years, and could well be there again in 2009.
Good luck with the car - it's good to hear of another SD1 getting saved rather than becoming another donor. |

Just a bit too far for me to travel as I am away up north of Hadrians wall ( Inverness ). I will just have to wait until after the new year for the body parts. Fuel tank just about ready to be dropped so hopefully I will have a go at trying to spark the old girl up Sunday or Monday. |
