Very nice. Saw one of them at Spares Day 2 & wasn't all that impressed to be honest. The shell they had on display looked like it needed an awful lot of work.

Well from what I heard their in horrible condition. Dents all over the place, surface rust and forklift lifting dents in sills etc. The "minor" damage isnt as minor as you would think.

I saw the ones at the spares day and to be honest they looked in rather average condition for what is a new body, dented scratched etc, as for registering it as a new car? I cant see that being easy , I imagine you would get a age related plate or even one of those god awful "Q" plates.

Anyone know what the rules and regs are?

Basically is depends on how much of it is new, if its all new and never registered anywhere, it gets registered as a new car. Hence there being E-Plate SD1's floating about, and the bugalrian CKD Meastros being on 'W' paltes and later (there is a '51' example). So you would have to build the whole car from new parts and have evidence that they are new.

Thats going to be difficult then, as I Imagine you would need a donor car to supply alot of the small bits and bobs, oh and a engine/box etc

Think I will stick to nice original one.

Do any law state that they should be SD1 parts? I bet you can still find new 4.6L and R380 floating around?

You could buy most of the mechanical parts new old stock, but the interior trim, sound proofing and some wiring I expect would have to be good used as rimmers dont stock them.
