I used to own this beautiful SD1. It had some major work done such as jag front and rear discs, full touring car spec exhaust, 16" split rim wheel, and god knows what else.
It was a seriously quick car but I spent too much on it
Would love to know its still doing well.
Also wondered if anyone knows what happened to C511 CNG which was also a mint Vitesse T/P which I used to own.

Hi. That's a good selection of SD1s you've owned, and the M5 is what today's
Rover Vitesse should be (perhaps without the badge )
I'm pretty sure D350RDV has been mentioned on this forum before, it was
certainly on eBay once or twice in the past few years. Currently it's SORN.
News not so good for the other one:
The vehicle details for C511 CNG are:
Date of Liability 01 05 2001
Date of First Registration 27 03 1986
Year of Manufacture 1986
Cylinder Capacity (cc) 3500CC
CO2 Emissions Not Available
Fuel Type Petrol
Export Marker Not Applicable
Vehicle Status Unlicensed
Vehicle Colour SILVER
Vehicle Type Approval null |

I found mention of the car and a picture on the SD1 Club Forum, seems
there is another ex-owner of the car there (unless you are the same
person!). |

That will be me then. I was the second owner of D350RDV and did the modifications to it. Still have lots of old MOT's for it. Would love to know who owns it now. |

Did you move to Dubai or something as thats what the guy I bought it off said.
It was a stunning car though and without a doubt the best SD1 I have ever driven. |

I bought RDV when I was working in Saudi Arabia (it spent a lot of time at home in the garage on axle stands and under a car cover) but sold it when I came back home for good and wanted to put a deposit down on a house.
The next mod I had wanted to do was to get a 5 litre engine from Ray Webb at Rovertec but that never happened, really wish I kept the car now.
Glad you enjoyed driving it too, best car I ever had. |

Hi,
Just found this thread.
I bought D350RDV from a guy down in Brighton in June 07. I ran her until last autumn, then put her undercover for the winter. Neede a few things doing before she went back on the road - rear brake caliper (took a while to work out what it came from, but an excellent conversion!) her first ever bit of welding (very minor, don't worry!) and a new steering rack.
That was all a couple of months ago, but I've not been driving her due to a nasty wheel shimmy (which I originally thought was the steering rack) that I reckon has been there since you owned her - did you know that the centres in those (rather gorgeous) alloys were oversize, so the wheels didn't run true? Anyway, they are now machined out, and fitted with adaptor rings, and today was her first test flight - it drives so beautifully. I've had a good number of Sd1's, including another Vitesse, but this is just on a different level. I guess all I can say is many, many thanks for all the mods you had done to the car - they are excellent. I'm keeper number 8, and I wonder, had you not spent all the money in her whether she would still be here.
There's a whole lot of things I would like to ask you about the car if possible?
Regards,

Wow D350 RDV looks even better than when I owned her.
I recently came across a receipt for over £1000 that I forgot to give to the buyer.
If I still have it I will be happy to let you have it.
It was without a doubt the best SD1 TP I have ever seen and driven and its great to see her in excellent condition (nice to see the marks on the front bumper gone !) |

Devilhunter,
The car's not bad - headlining is starting to go, d-post trims and rear trims either side of the parcel shelf need doing, and the bumpers need changing (but I've got a mint set ) Structurally it's still excellent, but the door bottoms will need doing in the next year or two to keep up it's current appearance. Mechanically it's about spot on apart from a couple of creaking bushes
I'd love any receipts you still have, also, did you have the camshaft fitted (receipt dated 2005)? If so, what was it, as it doesn't say on the bill.

I bought RDV on the 19th November 1990 with 59,000 on the clock. At that time it was a standard car. I sold it to a Mr Deneauve (forgot his first name) in 2001. Glad to hear that it is still being looked after and cared for.
I have found a few more receipts and old MOT's for it. Did you get the folder full of receipts that went with the car when I sold it? Anyway, I have found the purchase receipt from when I bought it, from the Munro Motor Co. in Torquay. A service receipt from the first owner dated April 1990 and MOT's for Nov 1990-91, May 92-93, Dec 93-94, and June 95-96 showing 76,402 miles. Also got the original service book from 1,961 miles to 54,526. Also found some fitting instructions for the rear disc conversion.
I started a thread here Only registered users can see links on this forum! Register or Login on forum! | asking about RDV as well. _________________ Simon J
