I have just unearthed some old photographs of a Rover meeting I went to some time ago (maybe 12-15 years ago) I stumbled across it by chance, I was driving around the New Forest in my Vitesse, and I noticed an awful lot of Rovers driving around, from the very earliest to P6 (don't think the SD1 was quite a classic then) and I followed some cars and ended up in an Aladdins cave (or car park) jam packed with Rovers of ALL ages. Rover themselves were also there with the current models of the time. Can't remember the exact location, but I seem to remember it was some Butterfly Farm in the New Forest area of Hampshire.
I'd love to post the pictures, but alas no scanner, so I thought I'd list the cars I have photos of to see whether they still exist or indeed owned by anyone on this forum now. I'll try and find someone with a scanner, because there are some very interesting pictures.
B333 XYL - a Moonraker Blue Vitesse (boxy bodykit matching TP type front spoiler, but front spoiler missing a-la Rover 2000!!)
E502 LHX - An electric blue Vanden Plas Efi fitted with wide arches, cosworth bonnet vents, and huge gold Revolution wheels
B705 WPU - Black Vitesse? (more likely VDP Efi, riding quite high)
DE91995 - LHD Moonraker TP Vitesse (clearly an overseas visitor)
B450 YKN - Blue Series 2 (unsure of model/spec)
RHC 555S - Red Series 1 (unsure of engine size, silver S1 alloys fitted)
AJT 22T - White Series 1 (unsure of engine size, cloverleaf wheelcovers)
B242 UKK - Red Series 2 (unsure of engine size/spec, SE alloys fitted)
A103 RCR - My own red Vitesse at the time, is she still out there.....
A734 VMG - Silver Series 2 (unsure of engine size, SE alloys fitted)
B550 HWV - Silverleaf Vitesse, side decals, no rubbing strips, but a TP spoiler fitted
D56 W?? - Incomplete registration number, car just out of shot, looks like a spoilerless light blue 2000, or higher spec car whose lost its spoiler.
Of supplementary interest to some....
LWV 394P - a blue Rover P6 3500S, completely stock bodywork, but fitted with a Vitesse Efi engine, 5-speed box and 15" Vitesse cross-spoke alloys, looks absolutley stunning.
Hopefully some of these cars may mean something to someone....enjoy
Jay
