Hi, has anybody out there go a mint rear spoiler for a vitesse. I am renovating my car at the moment and the one I have got on mine is all cracked and shabby, so just wondering if anybody has got one lying around somewhere doing nothing. I am willing to pay good money for the right one.

Mint ones are rocking horse poo!

I've ended up refurbishing mine. I rubbed it down (it'd already been
rubbed down so was no longer 'rough') and sprayed it with fine
'stone effect' paint. This made a surface which is very similar to the
original. Then sprayed the whole lot with Halfrauds black bumper
spray paint.

It looks good, but needs another coat of black bumper paint spray.
The only thing I've yet to find out is how the sprayed surface flexes
in hot weather and how it wears.

Hi Chris, thanks for getting back to me. The one on the back of my car has a couple of splits about 6-7 inches long, the car is in the bodyshop and near enough ready for respraying, the chap in the bodyshop said the spoiler is letting the whole car down so I ordered a spoiler from Rimmers and they sent me a fibreglass one. I rang them and asked 'why fibreglass'? and they said they dont do the originals anymore. So that will be on Ebay before long because it just doesn't look original to me.

Thanks very much for your advice.

The spoiler on my Vitesse had a couple of splits, I think this is pretty
common on the opposite side to the bolts.

The state of the spoiler I had was poor. It had previously been rubbed
down smooth (not rough as it should be) and resprayed on the car. I
very carefully removed it using penetrating oil on the bolts, so managed
to get all 8 off without breakage. Then sprayed as previously described.

I didn't fill the splits as they were quite small and I couldn't think of
anything to fill it that'd flex like the original rubber. On close inspection,
the splits are visible.

Might be worth a small investment in spray paint to try and refurbish
your spoiler. My spoiler now looks mint, it's a case of will it survive
sun and wear?

HI Chris, thanks for your help, I will give this a go, and hopefully it will look better than what it is now.

Cheers Rob Smile
