hello guys, can anyone shed some light on this?

I have a SD1 2600 on an E reg, fitted with a GM 180 PK 3 speed auto. 3rd gear slips badly so I have removed the box.

I bought a brand new spanking TK 3 speed auto GM180 box in the crate.

BUT....................................

the new box doesn't fit !!! ha ha

according to the Rimmer site, the TK series is not compatable with the PK series--------- bugger.

The TK has a lot slimmer torque converter, sitiing some 2 ins further into the bellhousing than the PK.

Has anyone changed to front half of this box before, as the rest of the box is identical, if I could change the front shaft and torque converter, I could use the new box.

Any ideas?

Simon

just a quick update

a retired chap who knows most auto boxes inside out has pulled the front half off my old box and rebuilt it into the new box. it only took him 1 hour but I suppose with the experience and special tools, he made it look easy.

So the box is back on the engine just awaiting fitting.

champion.
