Nope, didn't mean that it's an import Tim, we meant that it has GONE overseas. Which is a shame if it means we have 'lost' such a unique car in the UK.

(Mine's from the Channel Isles).

there is a guy in scotland got one that is currently undergoing a restoration as a result of vandalism - arseholes broke into his lockup trying to steal tools and wrecked the poor beast.

i believe it was in perfect condition before the vandalism and has ridiculously low mileage. he is currently working on it when he can and is apparently transforming it back to showroom condition. i slso heard that he plans to sell it whenever it is complete. rovertiman will know more as he is friendly with the guy and he is also the sd1 club rep for scotland.

THIS COULD BE THE ONE FOT YOU CHRIS IF YOU CAN WAIT A BIT!!!

A friend of mine has a Caribbean Blue 3500 Auto in his garage with a genuine 13,000 miles which hasn't been to any shows yet but may make it this year. One previous owner - old chap - now deceased.

Whilst it was stored in a lockup it was broken into and vandals caused quite a bit of damage, Mad but it is now on the mend again....... Smile

I know of two others in Caribbean, both of which have been at Nationals in the last three years - one of which was the car advertised at Country Classics.

What a shame that happened. Would be good to see that car at the
National this year.

There is a picture of the Country Classics car XWC747S in issue 74
of the SD1 club mag - at the National in Tredegar Park, I think this was
2002. The picture is black and white - difficult to tell if it's caribbean in
that picture, but it's got steel wheels at that time, gaining alloys in
the Country Classics picture of it.

Another ultra rare colour is avocado green. There was a 2300 in this
colour which was on Country Classics a couple of years back, also
appears in the Pender book. It doesn't appear in DVLA searches
anymore Crying or Very sad Also a 2600 in the club mag a while back which is
SORN at present. Can't be more than 2 or 3 avocado green SD1s
left?

Who cares if its a import, mine is, mines a ex Isle of man car and according to the logbook was registered in the UK in 1997! Its the car itself that makes it special. I would love a NADA car.

Tim, you pay the shipping etc, I'm sure I can help you out with that NADA dream. In fact I suspect the car that is arriving next week is a 1980 NA Series 1

There is at least 1 maybe 2 for sale in Toronto I believe.

I think it was sold in Canada for a year or so longer than in the USA, but the same spec.

There are a few of us interested in NADA SD1s over here. They pop-up on eBay.com fairly
regularly. It's the shipping that's the problem - it's a fair investment just to buy the car
and ship it over here. From memory, there have been 4 in the last 6 months or so - a
'desert' car which had zero rust but lots of paint and interior sun damage, a mint white
car, a total wreck and a green one in Florida which looked a bit rusty, I considered this
but it's just too stressful sorting the shipping and getting it restored.

The car in your link "1982 Rover 3500SE". I'd have thought this was an import, but there
are several people listing cars/bits from 1982 3500SE Rovers. So perhaps Aus-spec cars
were sold in Canada for a limited period? The car appears to be a series '1.5' with the
sunken headlights and stainless steel backed door mirrors. But it's got NADA-style
big bumpers and running/side/turn lights.

I was pretty sure the NADA cars (US and Canada) were only sold in 1980/81, were all
series 1 cars with twin-headlights, and only about 800 were sold before Rover retreated
from the continent. Later to return with the moderately more successful Sterling (Rover
800).
