April is just around the corner and I de-wintered my Vitesse today from its 5 month slumber. Gave it a fully charged new battery and refitted the brain. Fired up first poke - no probs.

Except, no wing mirrors 'cos I had them off to convert a set of manual mirrors to electric whilst in hibernation.

The end result has worked out a treat with the transplant of the old working electrics into the shiny new Rimmers ex India housings etc. Gorra be a bargain at their knock down price.

The new mirrors are back on now and the next job is to swap out a few more bargain bits purchased from Rimmers and get it Taxed for the new month.

Despite her age - 21 - she's now in the best nick ever (during my 14 yr ownership) so I really have to decide how long to keep it as its downhill all the way from here and I am not going to throw any more serious money at it.

Did you add heaters to the mirror glass, or reuse existing glass?

Don't know if you or anyone else has noticed, but the Rimmers India
stock prices have risen recently. In some cases quite substantially,
the door mirrors are now £7.50+vat, I'm sure they were a fiver at the
spares day last year - though still a bargain!

Hello Chris, I paid a fiver each and selected them without any scuffs at spares day.

My existing heaters were ok so i simply swapped the glass and heater to the new housing along with the electrics rather than peel off the heaters, which I have done before but its a tricky process having to be carried out immersed in very hot water.

I've stored the new glass until someone comes up with a replacement heater, but in the meantime I have a couple of spare but delicate heater elements to fall back on.

Well in the SD1 India catalogue they clearly say:

Yup, that's right, they did mention prices would rise (so my boot full of stuff last year
was worth getting). I read Rimmers were renting additional storage for all the stuff
they had, so shifting at low prices makes sense to clear some of the vast quantity of it.

Luckily, the inflation rate is not linked to SD1 parts prices!

Well give me a shout when you have to give it up.
I know how hard it will be to lose your pride and joy.

EDIT: I hope you can hang on to it as long as you can.
