Here is my summer toy.
Rover Vanden Plas 82-

Home modifield 4,6Efi.
Home ported heads with stage 3valves, 45mm home made trumpets and modifield manifold, 72mm throttle. Programmable ecu. 4-1 tubular manifold+ lightened flyfheel. Kent H214cam
I estimate power about 290-300hp and +470Nm.?
I dynotuned my engine 3years go inc std 38mm trumpets, 65mm throttle, faulty fuel pump, (pressure drops over 0,5bar at full throttle), std 3,9 ecu and std exchaust system.
Engines gives 280Hp @5020rpm and 440Nm of torgue 3820rpm.

Diff: quaife limited slip diff with std 3.08:1
Suspension:Koni adjustable type with yellow spring in pickture, but now updated with red unit at front, and maybe in future rear?
Also have got poly busches..

I have got projeckt head with my carage, stage 4 valves and bronze guides, iīm think to port head with stage 4 specks, and i hope to get near 320hp. And i have also got 4,6bottom end with my carage, thinking to build 5.0 or 5.3??

No, its not ugly, personally I love technical cars but i hear there is no need for them because it makes "the front end too rigid". Is this true? Does it make such a difference?. I'd like to know because i'm a bit newish to the SD1 scene. Very Happy

Yeah... I've been wanting to know that too whatkind of effect the strut brace has. Your vandenplas has so nice modifications it almost makes me jealous. Especially that dual exhaust and those rims.

Well..
What can i say? This is only mine opinion/experience what i recognize before/after fitting the strut brace.

Its not a "rigid". In my mind drivebility is better when i drive fast, over 60miles/hour. I think i can say its more steady, groove sensitivity is better with those 235/45-17 front tyres..
Not any experience with std 205/60 tyres and strut brace at the same time..
I canīt say any notable difference in "fast" corners.. Maybe i can drive slightly more quicker in corners?
But i think biggest effect is in straight line..?

Iīm not sure is this true or if it is my own imagination. Very Happy Rolling Eyes

always thought the rally boys fitted strut braces,to strenghen the top of the strut mounting, for when they drive over monster bumps ect

could be wrong though

why did they invent the strut brace?

I believe the strut brace was invented for the purpose of preventing the body of the car flexing and helps the car handle better around corners.Their very popular on front wheel drive cars like civics . I believe any big car doesn't need them.I remeber when i was an avid mini fan they used to(and probably still do)put rear strut braces on minis.

Thanks..

Thanks for offer, but i dont need wheels.. I like my compomotiveīs..

Yes i know this 5,5 stroker crank.. But i just wondering is the rod ratio suitable for long life engine/good power? I think this 3,779inch (96mm) stroke crank need chevy 5,7"inc (144,8mm) rods and piston comp height is about 1.05 inch(26,7mm) Witch means 1,5-1,51 rod ratio?
And what i have read/hear the rod ratio should be about 1,7 or 1,8?
Or what are think about rod ratio? Is it matter?
