That American one is a gorgeous colour.
Did Rover not sell SD1s in British Racing Green over here? and if not, why not? |

I guess the US SD1 in Posidon Green is the near to 'British Racing
Green'. Reason why Rover didn't do BRG it is that it wasn't fashionable
at the time - and it's been overdone these days. I bet NAC-MG will
have BRG as a colour for the MG 7 (ZT).... |

The SD1 would look brilliant in the BRG that the late 80s/early 90s Rovers and Austins got. That was the nicest of any manufacturers I think. They also did a lovely pearlescent cherry red and a very posh looking metallic Royal blue |

That's a real mongrel! That particular car is in one or other of the
Laurence Hogg videos, revving away at either a spares day or
national. |

It's of 'undetermined age' or something like that. Basically there's too many bits of too many different cars to allow it to keep its original reg.
Or it was imported without any documentation.
Could it be a replacement shell with no chassis number? |

Hmm that car looks a bit suspect to me, hell of a job to change the WHOLE of the interior over! carpets all the trim panels etc, he must have changed the doors aswell? Which is a HUGE job, and teh question is why bother?
It still has the MK1 headlamps and C pillar trims but thats about it. Smells a bit iffy to me, a ringer possibly? _________________ 1979 Rover SD1 V8-S

That car was on eBay last year. I guess it's a 'reshell' of a rust-bucket
Vitesse - must have been done some years ago, surely no one would
do this now? I don't think black is it's original colour either - black wasn't
available until 1979 (with V8-S introduction?). |

I think your right there Chris. I have a late 70s colour chart and its not on there. I think black was available from 1980 model year. _________________ 1979 Rover SD1 V8-S
