God that non-veneer type dashboard is AWFUL!! But what does one buy such car for? I cant see it going to be a collectors piece. It doesnt even have central locking! I doubt it has electric windows in such case either. What a lousy grandma car... Why theres no TP vitesses hiding in grandma garages like that.

Although it would make a very nice home for a V8... Vitesse spoiler. 16-17" rims and ofcourse complete interior change. Twisted Evil

Agreed, she's not as plush as an S, SE, Vanden Plas or Vitesse, but she is a fine example of a series 2 SD1 in it's simplest form, less electrics and things to go wrong...

As for them never being a collector's piece, I disagree, indeed I think Rover tried to cash in on the old "Rover 2000" monika considering the success of the similarly named P6 model, which appealed to people who wished to have the P6 ride and comfort but without the V8 or even 2200 running costs. Rover played the same card with the SD1.... Of course performance would be less than the big 'uns, but a 2000 has a charm of it's own I think.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a big V8 fan, but the appeal of an immaculate 2600, 2300 or 2000 attracts me more now than before, even the Turbo Diesel and the Indian Standard have charms of their own and should not be ignored as classics from our beloved SD1 "family".

yes, that is a throttle potentiometer switch for the efi engines.
it's not the original item, it's a homebuilt item. there were instructions on how to make them which came out some years ago as i recall. i have one in my shed which i bought as a spare when i had a vitesse.
not sure on the availability of the original switches these days, i know they were rare and rimmers wanted two hundred odd quid plus vat, if they had even got any.
ramon is the man for this, i seem to remember he published instructions on how to repair the track on your old one to avoid the problem.

It's an RS potentiometer on a machined adaptor plate. The only safe way to go I'm afraid. The repair to the old Lucas pots is not a long term solution, so this mod is the future.
I made one, and it works!
Ramon has covered it.
I was thinking of making a batch, so if anyone has an interest, I'll take it further. Probabaly need about 10 firm orders, and will be around the £100 mark, maybe a little less, depending on quantity.
Tommo

A very low mileage SD1 2000, previously owned by a 91 year old lady whose just given up driving?

Lovely low mileage, but....

Very saggy rooflining, worst I've ever seen, almost resting on the headrests.

Looks like the engine compartment's inner wings have been painted matt black

A few surfacy rusy bits coming through

Worth a look, but £2,500? You decide.....

I'm pretty sure that 2000 was on eBay before Christmas and was
'grabbed' by someone. It had less pictures, and not the ones which
show the car isn't as mint as the description suggests it is! Same
seller..... Oh, here is the original advert:
