Problem is £100 is nothing compared with what'd spent on moving it,
a new or refurb engine, maybe seized brakes, knackered autobox....

Having said that, the body looks so good and it's such a rare car. It
deserves to get back on the road for sure.

I am really tempted- there is even a garage up for rent close to me. Just have to find a way of moving it down to Luton. My Dad's Audi A6 (1.8 ) would probably struggle there. He has a trailor that should cope though (built for Aston v8s).

If I did save it, there is an engine and autobox a few miles from me on t'bay. Which leaves hoses, brakes, suspension, bearings, tyres and fixing the electrics. Not much. Oh, and the air con. And...

Interestingly, I got a 'quick quote' from Lancaster insurance. Base on a 21 year old, with no no-claims, the whole range from 2000 to VDP was around £525. The V8-S was £725 (same value), while the vitesse was around 850. The 2400 tends to be in vitesse territory.

James

EDIT (1.8 ) came out as (1.Cool

Dukes of Hazard,

Was there any damage evident from the strap under the roof that they had used to lift the car?

Im happy to chip in and help with the uplift, I wish I had space for it or I would be over to fetch it myself!

If this car gets scrapped it will be such a crime. Crying or Very sad

I'll be more than delighted to give money to save it. Is anyone going to get it?

I have the cash- just got to break the news to my parents, and then persuade them that it woudl be a good thing to do, and that we have space for it. If I can't then there is a garage up for rent near me, so the only thing left is transport.

All help gratefully recieved, though. If it happens.

Love this SD1. Cool
If someone has a trailer I could borrow I'd take my dad's Range Rover and go over there this weekend to get it. Wink

Hmmm, I could possibly keep it at my mate's farm for a while too. Idea

Just done it. Aparrantly, a car resto college was going to take the car, take the engine out +refurbish it, with the engine going to the bloke that now has the engine for a kit car. The SD1 was going to be restored, and have another engine put in it. the college is now undergoing some building works, and they can't have the car sitting around.

The man at the scrappy, (Brian or Dave, can't remember) said that they were not going to crush it for the forseeable future. He also said that it is very solid.

Still really want to go and have a look.
