Has anyone found a source for chrome or stainless strip to
replace the chromed-plastic strip on series 2 door cards?

The chrome tape option is OK, but not perfect and isn't
particularly tough. Removal of the plastic strip and replacement
with chrome or stainless steel section would give a far
better job Smile

The tricky bit are the ends as they taper. The chrome tape (unless you
have different stuff) is quite stiff and non-conformal. Having said that,
rubbing down the plastic to key the tape adhesive, makes things look
far better than the dulled chrome.

I believe the chromed-plastic will lever off the cards. With them off, it
will be easier to use the chrome tape and finish the ends.

I've looked at the strips but been reluctant to go for it in pulling them off - has anybody had success?

The strips are impossible to get off without wrecking them - they are
firmly bonded to the door card PVC material.

I have found some chromed plastic strip which is similar to the the
original stuff. Not identical, as it's a dome profile rather than 'D'
section, also slightly smaller. Once fitted though it looks identical,
and obviously is much shinier than what's left of the original.

The chrome tape gives a good result, but is very fiddly to get right
at the ends and the front door kink. I'll probably try this again on a
spare set of door cards I've just got hold of.
