Ok. I had some idea in my head that they made it there for some race use. Like if some class said you arent allowed to cut the stock chassis so they just put a hole in there so you can run rollcage turbing through there. _________________ Owner of 3 Rovers and 1 MG.

Yea maybe I should go with RV8 but I doubt I can make 300bhp under 3000£. Its just not that tempting engine. I want to be able to outrun most of the rice burners around here that have some 200sx or old supra which I doubt the RV8 can do. After all some of those imports are crazy fast. _________________ Owner of 3 Rovers and 1 MG.

Been busy with other stuff like making my 820si passing the next MOT as I need it still this winter. Only things I have been able to do on SD1 has been that I have used body-tin to smoothen out the few small dings caused from the transition process. After Im done with that its time to start wrenching the technic out from the old chassis. _________________ Owner of 3 Rovers and 1 MG.

What I meant was maybe the RV8 unit isnt good enough for reliable 350bhp+ So maybe I should look into alternatives. Sometimes you just have to think about using engines like this.

Okay... its been long again that I havent been able to do anything to the SD1 mainly because ive been busy doing other things... Now that I fooked up some school stuff... i dont have to go there until autumn so I got plenty of time messing about with my SD1. Started the project of unbolting all kinds of necessary stuff that needs to be removed to get the engine / transmission out with least pain.
In this pic you can see how my finnish stupidity overcame the lack of chassis stands. You can also see a little of rolls rear end.
No its not trying to do a wheelie...
Range Rover style...
I was removing the part after exhaust manifold... first I thought i just needed to remove that "middle part" in the left exhaust side to get easy access to the cardan shaft bolts. but then i thought "ahh fook that... im just dropping it out as a whole. As I had already unbolted that left upper-middle part out its separate.
Heres radiator, fan thingy (stupid mechanical fans... has anybody made an electrical fan conversion?) and some random parts.

You can make over 300bhp easily if you budget is 3000£
Depending how mutch your bottom end cost? And how mutch you can do yourself?
I carantee if my budget is say this 3000£, I can build home tuned stage 4 speck head + 4,6 bottom end witch give over 330bhp..
My 4,6engine gives now ~300bhp at flywheel with home ported heads, with stage 3 valves and cost is 3/4 because bottom end is very expensive to buy in Finland (year´s ago).
Hope to get with my new home build stage 4 heads over 330bhp at 4,6engine.
And my goal is 5,3-5.5engine witch give near 370-400bhp.
Ps: you dont need a flow bench to porting head. Its only a stupid number. And flow bench is not a real condition.. _________________ Timo.. |
