Anybody help me with correct settings for carbs on my V8 trike. they are standard SU carbs. Engine seems to run well at around 2000 revs but wont idle very well. Is there a correct setting for the mixture screw for standard, as i,m running with freeflow airfilters. Both carbs came off different engines so i reckon that they are both setup slightly different. just want to get them both balanced so i can get the trike to idle correctly.

Also found that the trike would cut out after a while and fail to start, this turned out to be the points overheating for some reason, found large crack in the distributor cap, so changed the points, condensor, cap and rotor arm. do i adjust the points with hex screw on the side of the distributor? Any help would be appreciated.

been so long since i had points i can't remember, sorry mate!
as for the mixture, get yourself a gunson colortune, about £15 from your motor factors. while you're in there, get a gunson carbalancer, also about £15. £30 sounds a lot, but they'll last you a lifetime, and are very useful tools. you'll have your carbs set up and balanced in no time.
