Does anyone have a Philips 760 radio cassette unit they would like to sell as I have the wrong stereo in my car at the moment (86 Vitesse TP) and I really am keen to get the correct stereo into the car.

This is what I am looking for :

So if anyone can help with providing me with one it would be much appreciated.

Are you deaf or do you want to become deaf? Just the horrible audio quality from those makes my ears bleed in pain. Unless you want to make your car 101% original and attend some restoration competitions with it... its just 100% pure lunacy to install bad hi-fi.

Thanks for your comments - I think!!

I like my cars to be as original as possible - yes for the shows!! Wink

I have a prefectly good stereo in my everyday Saab SO I KNOW WHAT GOOD SOUND IS THANKS and rarely listen to the radio in the SD1 anyway as I would rather listen to the growl of the V8.

So back to the request does anyone have one - if they are that bad there has to be some going spare...... Laughing

Interesting information... Cars brought to finland had NO stereos installed from factory. The car dealers themselves fitted stereos they found suitable. So for Finnish market there is no factory stereos... Dont know if this is same for british markets? Heard this from a person who worked with the cars back in the days they were new.

I found one stereo like that... No idea if it works tho. It could definately use some clean up.

Its little bit troublesome that its in finland but whats the going price for these? Very Happy I _might_ have one for sale after i've tested if it works.

Too bad. I took the stereo out from the car today and tested it with 12volt supply. Seems that only the backlights work and nothing else. Pretty much good as trash... Re soldering every point might make it work. Could be just a cold soldering somewhere.. who knows.

EDIT: After cleaning this piece of poop up it seems to work just fine. Oh well... it seems to be like rest of the SD1 electrics. If theres something wrong... fart out loud... drink cola... walk around the car 4 times thinking whats wrong with it and then try the electrics and VOILA theres nothing wrong anymore.

EDIT2: Connected it to my 300£ PC speaker set and the outputs work just fine. The sound quality is a bit umm... shall I say poop? But it works!
