I was hoping someone could offer some advice on a problem I'm having. In tidying up the SD1 we've had problems with paint reaction both on the car (silverleaf) and a replacement bonnet (targa red over what I believe is black transit primer).

When the paint (rattle can) is applied it doesn't cover evenly, leaving a mottled affect. Much the same as you get if trying to paint on a cold misty day. The liquid paint also seems to move away from scratches.

In the case of the bonnet, it was flatted down all over with wet and dry, dried with a combination of cloth, compressed air and sunshine and then wiped over with cellulose thinners.

Is there something perculiar about the paint on our SD1's that make it unlike more modern cars? I was expecting it to be cellulose, and with the rattle can also being cellulose there'd be no problem at all!

Thanks,
Anthony

I've been told that the SD1's used acrylic paint. I'm also told that aersol paint cans are usually acrylic so I can't see why they'd react. However the car has had paint in the past so who knows. I've gotten a tin of barcoat so will give that a go soon.
