hi all i have an lt77 5 speed that is suffering from backlash and a shit 3rd gear syncro have been told its not worth the effort to fix??

i was wondering as it is a buick motor weather the 5 speed gearbox (t5) from a buick v6 ie a GMH commodore over here would be possibly the same bolt pattern as i heard the v6 was designed from the v8
thanks all

There are parts around to replace the knackered synchro etc.I just stripped mine and it was easy enough to do so.I did have to borrow a puller to get the fifth gear off.Fifth gear is in rear casing and needs to be removed to get at the rest to inspect it.JJ

Hi Rod - have you found this site

Seems to have quite a bit of detail on rebuilding the LT77. I also think you'll find castlemaine rod shop and dellow do a bell housing for Supra gearboxes if you wanted that as an option.

Although if the GM one fits, it'll be alot cheaper eh!

i drove my 38 chev hotrod to work which has a t5 in it behind a worked 350
and wondered why do i bother, i also have an injected 302 in a 84 landcruiser and 308 in a ski boat
the misses has said something has to go
so it will be either sold or parted out it goes well with the meggasquirt ecu and extractors / sports exhaust
only problem is the chev was msashed at work and i can not drive it till the panel shop fixes it thank god i was insured

It would be a shame for the number of people on here from "downunder" to reduce Sad

seems like the injected 302 is the non GM linked toy, maybe that should be the one to go?!

I've got a UC Sunbird with a 350, th350 trans and 9" diff sitting in the engine bay waiting for me to figure out an exhaust header system that will fit.... keep thinking I should get rid of it but I'd love to have it on the road. The UC would be the brute force, no refinements car, the perfect compliment to the refined driving of the Rover Smile
