Hi guys, while working on the clutch master cylinder I found why my steering column has a bit of vertical movement in it.... the nylon looking bush that goes through the firewall appears to have failed.

Is a replecement part easily available or do you have to bodge something together?

Cheers,

Ray

Hi Ray,

I had the same problem last year and ordered by the Rimmers Part No. : CRC360. There was no problem to get it.
As I remember right, you have to disengage the steering knuckle and the steering shaft at the rubber plate. Then you can lift the steering column a little bit and then fit the support bearing from the footwell site.

Hope this helps.

Cheers
Christof

thanks for that - wasn't sure which Rimmers part to order as they don't have a picture of the part on their website.

cheers,

Ray

Had to get that steering column support bush replaced as part of the warrant of fitness this week - couldn't get the OEM part in New Zealand, so for those of you in NZ or Australia who might be interested, you can use nolathane bush SC76 and alter it to fit Smile $15 for two of the bushes, and the part is in stock - as opposed to having to wait for it to come from the UK.
