JayDeeVDP did you sell your car or have you decided to keep it - I hope it is the latter!!! |
Hi Stephen, I've come to my senses and decided to keep her
I've also placed an order with Rimmers for the stainless steel exhaust I've promised her _________________ Lifelong SD1 fan - 1983 Rover 3500 Vanden Plas |

Awesome KwS, that looks great Love the filter. Have you seen that SE for sale in Wellington? For some reason having one SD1 isn't enough
You must be very happy that the alternator didn't go while you were away... |

Hi there, nice car. I think $3k is very reasonable. I paid $5k for mine and it's not EFi. When I saw this one on Trade Me, I kicked myself, I really wanted the EFi with leather but got sick of waiting. We also have a turbo Subaru, you've obviously got good taste in cars. Happy motoring! |

would i have seen yours around chch mate, or is it a garage queen?
I've seen a white S2, a gold S2 VDP (like mine but not efi), and a maroon/brown S1.
Got pics? Make a thread, im keen to see.
lol, i got rid of my subaru... it was pure evil. nothing like british cars to treat you like youre a god. British cars, built with heart and soul. |

You may have, it gets used at least every two weeks. I'll start a thread in the next few days with photos and a story. I know of one other like mine in Christchurch, also one in Motueka. I have seen a gold VDP, not yours it had the 14" wheels. Also a nice white S1 3500SE is around. There was a TP Vitesse sold in Prebbleton that went to the North Island and I believe the seller has another one stored away. |

yup, thats the gold vdp i've seen. probably the white one too, i only got a quick glimpse at it, so it mustve been an S1 then.
I saw that TP... and would haven given anything to have it. sold for about 8g iirc. Wish i had one stored away, lol. |

failed my warrant of fitness (similar to MOT i think)... damn.
Failed on,
bald rear tires (would have, if i didnt replace them an hour before the WOF)
rear brake inbalance (left side 41% lower than right side)
hand brake (0% working)
exhaust leak
tires cost $259 for both, fitted
brakes and exhaust cost... $300
Got two new brake cylinders (one leaked, causing the low reading on left side, the other was rusted)
New shoes for left side (brake fluid stuffed old ones)
and patched my exhaust (leak just past the Y pipe)
Unforunately, the handbrake still seems a bit lackluster to me, and the rest of the exhaust is so thin it'll be swiss cheese very soon (planning on getting a whole new system in a couple of months anyway).
I take her for the recheck in the morning... i really hope it passes now, its been a very expensive day for me! |

I can relate to your post - my last WOF cost me $700. Front brakes not balanced. Turned out LH caliper had seized on at some stage with previous owner and completely burnt out the pads. New pads for Vitesse are considerable more expensive than standard SD1 pads! Also needed bush replaced where steering column goes through firewall, and rear brakes balanced. As I say, expensive but it was really deferred maintenance that caused the probs.
However, having paid all that money it wasn't long before the smile was back on my face as I drove my baby home the long way and opened her up |

i know that feeling! i hate spending that much money like that, but damn its good to be back in my car. so worth the money.
Got the warrant. The handbrake was still uneven and a bit lackluster... but it was still good enough to scrape by.
Oh goody, my EFI has the same brakes as a vitesse... how much did your pads cost & from where?
Its also great now that my new front tires are 205/60R15 (to spec) instead of the 215/60R15 that was on there... i got serious guard rub at full lock, or while turning and braking. The 215 on back and 205 on front point the nose down a little, but it doesnt look odd, i just need to lower it |
