Finding replacement door panels in the USA has proven very difficult. Does anyone have panels in decent condition for sale?
Thanks,
Tom |

Do you mean the door cards or the metal panels on the outside? _________________ Owner of 3 Rovers and 1 MG.

Sorry for not being more specific, I am looking for the interior facing door cards made of pressed material and covered in fabric. |

I could do with one, as the edge on the driver's one is all torn. Presumable where the seatbelt buckle has been caught in the door.
Is yours the same? |

Door cards seem to be a real problem for the SD1 owner because the originals are usually worn or falling apart and replacements are not being made anywhere as far as I can tell. No Newton Commercial to the rescue here. Rimmers did not get any with their India Consignment nor do they remanufacture them for enthusiasts.
I have been looking to get some done by a motorbody trimmer locally, though I intend modifying them more to my own tastes as I don't entirely like the bland Series 1 cards with inbuilt ash trays. I've never been able to find any s/h Series 2 cards that haven't been damaged by the sun here and look crap. _________________ TRACO

Yes I am interested, please do. All the cards on the Aussie cars seem to have been ruined by exposure to the sun. _________________ TRACO

What would be the chances of all of us clubbing together to get front door cards remanufactured? & what would bethe cost? Surely there is a pattern for them still in existance somewhere & if not surely it wouldn't be too hard to use a really good one as a template? Y drivers side door card isn't too bad, but it's seen better days, & the passenger one is even worse.
The rear doors are fine though, as they see an awful lot less use than the fronts! Plus I intend to use my car as a daily driver, so I need something a bit more durable than BL's shite door cards.... _________________ Auto Vitesse, gonna be a beast! |

I was thinking of fibreglass too. although the fibre board cards would've stood the test of time if the idiots who made them had taken more care!
Pretty much every series 2 door card I've seen has deep knife marks in it where the vinyl covering has been cut on the inside...
If the club was willing to get something done then I would be prepared to chip in a bit to get some made. _________________ Auto Vitesse, gonna be a beast! |

Count me in too. They seem to be one part that's so prominent, so flimsy and easily damaged, yet so difficult to find replacements for. Surprised Rimmer's haven't done some by now. I wonder what the India cars used - and where they went to? _________________ TRACO

I think the India cars all used locally made interiors, apart from dashboards & sterring wheels. Can anybody get the ball rolling on this & make some enquiries? I intend to keep my SD1 long term & would like to not have to worry about my front door cards falling to bits because they were shoddily made by some YTS kid who didn't really give a toss about his work! _________________ Auto Vitesse, gonna be a beast! |

I have a perfect set I've bought for my project - cost me a fair few quid.
Can use them for templates if we can find a chap who can make duplicates. _________________ 4.5, TP, 45mm inlets, big heads - just not all in the car at the moment... |

Painting is one of the most popular do-it-yourself projects for homeowners. While we all want to see how the color we picked will look on the walls, it’s important to remember that the key to a good paint job starts long before you open the first can of paint. If the room isn’t prepared properly, the results may be less than you had hoped for and could lead to problems that are hard to repair.
