Have just bought a Janspeed twin turbo SD1, does anybody know anything about them? I'm interested in whether the engine is anything special, billett crank, carillo rodas, hypereutectic pistons etc etc.

I have broken the car as it was compoletely rotten.

Any info would be greatly appreciated

No, anyone can do that, and most kit cars look awful.

It's going into my morris minor hot rod, the P6 V8 let go in it the other day and it wasn't fast enough, was going for nitrous but worked out too expensive.

As the expression goes, any man can restore a car but it takes a real man to cut one up!!!!! (he he he)

I would've restored it but believe me, there was no interior, looked like it had been shot with a rust gun and the dash and loom had been ripped out.

I think its a shame to put one of these very rare turbo engines in a non-SD1 car.

Thanks fp the link, found this link a while ago but even Janspeed have no info on the conversion. The response I got was "they've all either retired or are dead!!" Nice way to document your tuning legends.

Hi!
There was a single page article in the Brooklands Rover 3500 test reprint book on the Janspeed twin turbo.
I'll dig it out tonight and report back.
I seem to remember that there was nothing special internally though, or if there was, it wasn't listed in the test.

Cheers, that'd be grand. Being that it's only runs upto 7 psi Boost and acts more like a blower than a turbo without the power consumption and the mechanical losses, didn't think there would be too much different, maybe lower compression.
Clutch pressure plate looks like a heavier item though, am going to replace it as the old one had been stuck up for 10 years, any ideas on clutch spec?

Can anyone help with how to set up my SU's on my twin turbo?

Have fitted new dizzy, leads plugs, coil, you name it, now pops and bangs, leans out big time, generally shockingly poor. When it runs she goes like f**k but this is so infrequently, I'm starting to lose patience. Anyone injected a twin turbo set up?

Yeah!!!!!!!

Finally got her running well, just come off the dyno at Race Shack in Tewksbury and they worked their magic, £150 well spent. 24 deg advanced on the dizzy, 22 thou points gap, disconnect vac advance altogether and run her rich on idle and she doesn't lean out at 4.8 psi boost.

In all, 268 BHP at the wheels, 191 lbs / ft torque, pushing out more power than an injected and blown 4.6 that was in there last week running high boost and had forged intenals.
